Obituary of Shirley Frances Mohr

Shirley Frances Mohr, 87, beloved wife of 70 years to the late Maurice Dale Mohr,  passed away October 24, 2023.

 

Born in Green Cove Springs, FL, on February 10, 1936, she was the eldest of eleven children of the late Harold and Elizabeth Norris. Mrs. Mohr met her future husband when she was 17 years old. He was in the Navy and they were married when she turned 18. She worked as assistant to Fen Casperson, head of Bank of America, in Jacksonville, Florida before they had children. She and Maurice would later own and operate their own hardware business in Keystone Heights, FL from 1971 to 1989.  Family always came first to Shirley. She was an avid reader.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Sandy Norris, Margaret Norris, Bill Norris, and Evia Norris.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Morris (Richard Lamb) of Aiken; a son, William Dale Mohr (Brian Robboy) of Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Shane Robert Morris, Tyler William Morris and Mackenize Peter Morris; a great granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Morris; and six siblings, Marion Rice, Patricia Wingate, Linda Welch, Harold “Sonny” Norris, Don Norris, and Gary Norris.

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 am, in Southlawn Cemetery with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Aiken Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St. S, Aiken, SC 29801.
