We were so sorry to hear of Phyllis' passing. My family has lived next door to the Cliftons since 1962, and they were always such good neighbors. I'll always remember my Dad recounting the conversations he and Phyllis had over the hedges between their backyards. Phyllis and Vic are in the fond memories I have of growing up on Carolina Avenue.

Dear Clifton Family,
So very sorry to hear of the recent loss of your loved one. She will be missed by many. May the God of Comfort be with each of you during this time of sorrow. May you find hope in these words, "Christ did actually rise form the dead, and has become the first of millions who will come back to life again someday." 1 Corinthians 15:20 As we wait on this promise to be fulfilled, I hope all the fond memories that were shared will help sustain you in the days ahead. Warm Christian Love.

Phyllis and I were friends from the time we were in second grade at Jewell Ridge, Va. We attended Tazewell High School together, double dated together, spent summer vacations with each others family and loved each other the better part of our lives. So many memories. Giving her to God is like giving a sister - His blessing and my loss.
My sympathy to Gwen and the rest of her family. Phyllis will always remain in my heart as my very, best friend. God Bless you all.

To Ms. Phyllis' family
My name is Debbie Miller Epling. My mom and Ms. Phyllis were very good friends when they lived in NE. Vic was also a very good friend of mine in school. I am so sorry for your loss - Ms. Phyllis was a wonderful person, and I have spent many hours with her and my mom just laughing all the time. I can still hear that special laugh of hers. I saw her about a year ago, and she had not changed any. Still just as crazy and funny as always. Please accept my condolences on her loss, and I know Vic was up there waiting to welcome her. I am so sorry for your loss, and will be thinking of you and praying for you in the coming days.
Sincerely
Debbie Miller Epling

To Phyllis's Family, Our prayers go out to each of you. This is indeed a sad time. Victor was my husband and the best friend I have ever had. He became my son's Joel father when he was very young. He was and will always be his father. Just as Phyllis was his "Granny C". Joel and I will miss her just as we have missed Victor every day for the last 23 years. After Victor passed, I kept up with her checking in on her from time to time. To me she would always remain my mother-in-law. I knew how much Victor loved his mother. So did we. I knew how much she missed Victor and made sure she always had flowers on Mother's Day and Christmas. It will be tough when these holidays come up. I know mother and son are together now, so it gives me comfort to know she is at peace and happy. Phyllis was a special person and will not be forgotten.
