Obituary of Bernard McGinty
Bernard (loving known as Barney) was a resident of
Born in Montgomery, AL on June 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Regina Cannon McGinty. Mr. McGinty enjoyed careers at University of Virginia ( Charlottesville), The City of St Jude ( Montgomery) , and finally in the Finance office at Duke University Medical Center (Durham). Barney was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt Pleasant. Previously, he and his wife were parishioners of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC for over 20 years. Barney was a proud United State American Army Veteran. While his health permitted, Barney was active in many church organizations, charitable organizations, and played golf into his 70’s.
Surviving are his two sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael Nash & Elizabeth McGinty of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Patrick Lee & Shonda McGinty of Peachtree City, GA; 5 grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth (Jon) King of Huger, SC, Kelly Hall McGinty of Charleston, SC, Sean Michael (Hanna) McGinty of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Shannon Leigh (Kyle) Arnold of Marietta, GA and Annalee Sundy McGinty of Marietta, GA.
In addition to his parents, Barney was pre-deceased in death by a sister, Margaret McGinty. a sister, Kathleen McGinty Simpson of Vienna, VA, a brother Charles McGinty of Montgomery, AL. and a brother, Andrew McGinty of Baton Rouge, LA..
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:30 AM ESTat Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464, with the Reverend Robert Spencer as celebrant.
Final prayers and commendation will take place on Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM
A reception will be held following the Mass on Friday at Grace Hall at Christ our King.
For those unable to attend in person, the Mass along with the Final prayers and commendation will be livestreamed on the official George Funeral Home & Cremation Center Face Book page (Facebook.com/GFHCC) beginning at 10:30 EST.
