Obituary of Doris Jean Foster

     Mrs. Doris Jean Best Foster, 76, beloved wife of James S. Foster, passed away peacefully at her residence in Graniteville, Sunday morning, August 13, 2023, following an illness.

     Mrs. Foster was born on February 4, 1947, in Aberdeen, MS, a daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy Jean Burleson Best. Mrs. Foster was a retired Dietician Manager in School Food Services. She was a wonderful cook and cherished her husband, sons and grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-grandchild. She will be cherished in the lives of those she leaves behind.

     Surviving in addition to her husband of 56 years are a son and daughter-in-law, James D. & Melody Foster of North Augusta; 2 sisters, Sue Monger of Cedar Park, TX and Deborah Wilemon of New Albany, MS; 3 brothers, Danny Ray Best of Saltillo, MS, Timmy Best of Tupelo, MS & Michael Best of Brewer, MS; grandchildren, Nicole L. Foster, Shelby Carl, Samantha Foster, Zach (April) Foster, Jason Linton (Holly) & Josh Linton; great-grandchildren, Maliyah Goyen, Quincy Carter, Aleko Carl, Rose Carl, & Dakota Linton; great-great granddaughter, Alaya Hammond.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was pre-deceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Scotty L. & Dana Foster; a sister, Shirley Emler and 4 brothers, John Paul Best, Glen Allen Best, Gary Best & Randy Best.

     Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00am in the George Funeral Home Historic Downtown Chapel.

     The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234.
