Obituary of Warren B. Ridge

Funeral services for Mr. Warren B. Ridge will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 11 AM at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, Aiken, SC, with Rev. Dr. John Frye officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park, Laurens, SC, at 3:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Jeff Newman, Don Nesbitt, Murphy Comer, John Stephens, Barry Langford, and Tom Griswald. Honorary pallbearers will be Past and Present Leaders and members of Boy Scouts of America Troop #146. The family will receive friends Friday, June 10, 2005 from 7-8:30 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mr. Ridge, 59, of Aiken, SC, died Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2005 at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. Born in Ware Shoals, SC, a son of the late Wayne W. and Sarah Turner Ridge, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC, since 1985 where he was a member and Past Elder of South Aiken Presbyterian Church and was a Procurement Engineer at Westinghouse. A Vietnam Veteran, Warren proudly served his county in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army and was awarded the Parachute Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a former scout leader for Boy Scout Troop #146. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Andrea Johnsey Ridge, sons, Andrew Warren Ridge, Inman, SC and Justin Todd Ridge, Aiken, SC; brother, Gary W. Joanne Ridge, Webber Falls, OK; sisters, Barbara Doyce Elgin, Greenville, SC, Geraldine Bagwell, Homer, LA, Susan Schofield, Laurens, SC, and Emily Ridge, Laurens, SC; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Keith Smeal, Simpsonville, SC and Liz and Joe Chandler, Orlando, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
