Obituary of Wanda Key Shepard
AIKEN, SC – Wanda Key Shepard, age 55, passed away July 15, 2023, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Wanda was born September 14, 1967, in Augusta, GA to the late John Martin Key Sr. and the late Shirley Young Key. She was raised and a long-time resident of New Ellenton, SC. Wanda was passionate about her job with Progressive Show Jumping and Highfields Event Center, where she worked for over twenty years. She was a member of Talatha Baptist Church. Wanda loved her family, especially her grandkids and her dogs. She was also passionate about helping people and animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Martin “Marty” Key Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Gary Shepard; two sons, Brandon Smith of New Ellenton, SC and Justin Smith (Wendy Foster), New Ellenton, SC; grammy to two beloved grandchildren, Madison and Collin Smith; sister-in-law, Tamara Key (BJ Bolt); and niece, Haley Napier (Matt); and, nephew, Colt Key.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Talatha Baptist Church, with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Jordan Bird will officiate. Interment will be private in Talatha Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be BJ Bolt, Colt Key, Rick Cram, Ian Banker, Andrew Roberts, and Dustin Bowles.
