Funeral Services for Mr. Marvin Emiel Berrie, Sr. will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 3 pm at the George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken with Rev. Jim Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Memorial Baptist Church 3100 Vaucluse Rd, Aiken SC 29801. Pallbearers to serve will be William E. Berrie, Barry Clayton, Pat Dorr, Andy Dorr, Mike Fulmer and Harry Cornelius. Friends from the American Legion Post #26 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Berrie, 81, of Aiken, died Saturday April 28, 2007 at the Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Aiken, SC, Mr. Berrie was a son of the late William Ernest Berrie and Minnie Rodella Cato Berrie. He was a life time resident of Aiken, and lifelong member of the Memorial Baptist Church, where he had served through building committees and the Brotherhood and always was a servant He served his country during WWII aboard the Destroyer, USS Fogg DE-57, in the United States Navy and was a member of DESA. He retired from DuPont SRS after 31years and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 537 He was also a member of the Shaws Creek Hunting Club and the American Legion Post #26. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one son Marvin Emiel Berrie, Jr. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise Berrie of Aiken, his daughter Gwen Bill Simpson of Graniteville, his sister Willa John Dorr of Aiken, his brother William P. Nell Berrie of Aiken and a number of nieces and nephews.
