Al Sorensen: A lifetime friend, a beautiful man, a strong leader, and a one-in-a-million human. I loved him like a brother and will always have fond memories of him as a leader and founder of our beloved Interim HealthCare. My life is changed because of Al's love and friendship for me and Ray. Al and Ray had a bond that is hard to describe. They simply journeyed through life together. On a personal note, Al's belief in me changed the course of my career. I will be forever grateful. In addition, JR loved Al like a father, and Al taught JR treasured life lessons.
I cannot think of Al without thinking of Rosey and Philly. What a beautiful family and legacy. I love you all!!
Forever yours,
Charyl Schroeder

Al was a true gentleman and a good friend. A man who would carefully grill venison from successful hunting trips at Miami Dolphin tailgates. He never missed a birthday card and his Round Robin emails of jokes, pictures and political thoughts were always fun to receive and not infrequently emailed onwards. It was a pleasure to have known him and be a part of his life. Love ya always Al!

I was stunned and deeply saddened to discover my old pal, Al, in the Obituary column in the Calgary Herald. Who knew we would eventually become life-long “pen pals” of this “over-achieving guy” with a Pharmacy degree and a business head after meeting in Junior High School in Calgary, Alberta, along with some other very special childhood friends... and we had fun - tons of it growing up together.
None of us knew why he chose DRAKE - or Pharmacy, for that matter, but away he went, never to return to Canada, but always in touch in his heart with his perennial “update letter”, along with his ‘never-ever-forgotten’ birthday wishes to us all, and more recently in his retirement at least an email a day, always educating or entertaining us over the internet. What a guy!! You “done good, Al”. You will be missed. God Bless. Rest in peace, good buddy.
Bob joins me in sending warm wishes and sincere condolences to Philly and Rosey, Jody , Scott and Al’s extended family.

Forever Friend
Our relationship with Al began in our Junior High School and continued through senior high at Crescent heights in Calgary, Alberta.
Al was a constant friend and we shared many
Fun Times through those years. Upon graduation things changed and he went to Iowa and I to Utah. My wife of 62 years, Marlene,, spent 20 of those in the US and unfortunately saw Al personally on two occasions..
We are now in our mid 80,s and often reflect on those early years with Al. Many! Many! Fond memories of Him. We loved him dearly.
Rest in Peace out Forever Friend..

I met Al upon entering the Republic Services Board of Directors where he served for many years. Al was always assertive in his beliefs but very collegial. We enjoyed our time together immensely.
Moreover, as his health issues surfaced over the ensuing years, he maintained an ever positive attitude. His annual birthday cards were always a joy to receive. Rest in peace Al.

The first time I met Al and Philly, I was in at a meeting for the SPCA, it had to of been 2007 and we were planning a fundraiser and in came the two of them. I thought they were Hollywood actors.. I couldn’t decide who was better looking they were vivacious, they were fun and turned out to be great friends. Who will send me a birthday card this year? Love you Al

I am really saddened by Al’s passing. He was a generous and brilliant man. I was lucky enough to be on his birthday card list and I always enjoyed opening my funny card with his classic sign off - “ Cheers!”
