Obituary of Jerry M O'Leary

Jerry Michael O'Leary, 76, departed this life on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Beloved father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio, he graduated Portsmouth High School in 1964 then attended THE Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati. He was employed for 18 years with Goodyear Atomic Energy in Piketon, Ohio prior to relocating to Aiken, South Carolina where he later retired from the Savannah River Site after 24 years of service. An avid baseball enthusiast, he was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan, and was known to loiter about spring training camps each season with his lifelong hooligan friends, Bob and Chuck. He was also known to menace local diners with his gang of fellow retired ne'er do wells.

He is predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Nancy “Toots” O'Leary, by his parents, Gerald and Ruby O'Leary and his sister, Patricia Hendricks. He is survived by his sons Matthew (Jennifer) O'Leary of Aiken, Joshua O'Leary of Asheville, NC, and Micah (Michelle) Thomas of Aurora, IN; his brother, Kelly (Sue) O'Leary of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Brady O'Leary, Lily O'Leary, and Maggie O'Leary.
