Obituary of Michael Emmett Power

Michael Emmett Power, 73, widower of the late Sandra Ruth Mahoney Power, passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2023 at Piedmont Health Augusta following a short bout with brain cancer.

Mike was born on Dece,ber 27, 1949 in Reading, PA a son of  the late Dr. Frank Emmett & Erleen Mae Matz Power. He was a member of Local 699 Union employed at the Savannah River Site.  He also worked for the Aiken County Sheriff’s Department prior to retiring.

In his retirement, Michael enjoyed boating on the lake with his wife Sandy, golfing, and volunteering with the Lion’s Club, the Salvation Army and the ASPCA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 24 years, Sandra Power.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Ann Power and Shane Bott of Aiken and his granddaughter, Samantha Megan Lynn Porter. 

Memorial service will be May 29, 2023 at 6 p.m. in The George Funeral Chapel.
