Obituary of Doris Smerchek Miskulin

Mrs. Doris Smerchek Miskulin , 96, widow of the late Albert A. Miskulin, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Miskulin was born on September 15, 1926 in Racine, WI, daughter of the late Vincent & Libbie (Lorence) Smerchek . She was a 1944 graduate of Horlick High School and a 1947 graduate of the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She would futher her education and obtain her Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin. Doris was a Nurse Cadet during World War II and later would be employed by St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing, the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, the Cook County School of Nursing and the Tinley Park Mental Health Facility. Doris and Al were married on August 7, 1954 and were married 65 years until his death in 2020. Doris was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed traveling with her husband. Doris enjoyed immensely  the fellowship she had with her family and friends.  

Surviving include her nieces and nephew, Sheila (John) Whitter of Kingston, NH, Linda S Voll (Tom Sherin) of Fontana, WI, John (Leslie) Miskulin of Valparaiso, IN, Elizabeth Bruns of Racine, WI, Ruth (Stan) Sylva of Aurora, CO, Susan (Gerry) Harsh of Racine, WI, Ellen (Dave) Peters of Racine, WI, Mary Miskulin-Sjogren of Waukesha and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service & reception will take place on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 6:00p.m. at the Historic George Funeral Homes & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649.6234.

Interment will take place in Racine, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Habitat for Humanity, 1026 Park Ave, SE, Aiken, SC 29801 or to the Gentiva Hospice, 1690 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801
