Obituary of Cindy Jo Brooks Morris
Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Aiken, SC – Cindy Jo Brooks Morris, 62, of Aiken, South Carolina transitioned to be with our heavenly father on Thursday morning, March 23, 2023. She passed surrounded by her loving family following a long illness.
Born February 17, 1961 in Bristol, Connecticut, she was the oldest daughter of Gordon and Barbara Brooks.
Cindy graduated from Aiken High School in the class of 1979. While attending the University of South Carolina at Aiken, she worked as a stringer for the Aiken Standard, covering area sport contests. She also served as the editor of the Pacer Times while obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. She returned to USC-A and later received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She held positions as a labor and delivery nurse and as a NICU nurse at Richland Memorial and Aiken Regional hospitals. Following her daughters’ graduations from high school, she accepted a job as a travel nurse, leading her to work in South Carolina, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Delaware. She continued to travel until her health started to decline.
Cindy was always at the field or courtside, cheering on her kids and granddaughter in the sports they participated in. She loved being at the beach, cooking for her family, collecting windchimes, taking care of her plants, and drinking coffee, especially a Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks.
To mourn her passing, Cindy leaves Billy Morris Jr. (Aiken, SC); sister Tammie L. Brooks (Taylors); son Bryant Morris (Aiken); daughters Brenna Morris (Anderson) and Jessica Morris (Charleston); granddaughter Madison Morris (Aiken); numerous nieces and nephews; Laurie Holt (Leesville), a dear friend for decades; and many other loving relatives and caring friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Brooks and Barbara Bachman, and her brothers, John and Camond J. Brooks.
