Memorial services for Mrs. Marietta T. Stokes will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 3pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken with Pastor David Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Frances Porveaux and Margie "Memaw" Ball after the memorial service. Mrs. Stokes, 77, of Salley, died Thursday, May 4, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Greenville, NC, she was the daughter of the late James and Beulah Sutton Tripp. She moved to Aiken from Florence in 1981. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Marietta attended Cedar Creek Church and was a volunteer Foster Grandparent with the Aiken County Public School District. She liked to draw, read, sew and work in her flowers. Her most precious time was spent with her children. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jay L. Stokes, sister, Mozelle Epp. She is survived by her daughter, Sonnya Gavin, Aiken; son, Jay Stokes, Salley; brother, James A. Tripp, sister, Lillian Honesburger, half-sisters, Jan Evans, Vickie Tripp, Gaye Tripp, grandson, Robert Terrell Garland, and great grandchild, Joshua Coleman.
