Mr. James Earl Lowe, 95, passed peacefully Monday, January 30, 2023 with family by his side, at his home in Huntsville, AL.
Born and raised in Elkridge, WV, Earl and his wife, Joanna, moved to Aiken, SC, where they lived for 55+ years. Building their life in Aiken, the couple raised their four children while being active members of the local community. Earl had a passion for life, which he displayed in his various hobbies. He officiated baseball and basketball, and loved playing golf. He spent his career at, and retired in 1986 from Savannah River Plant.
Earl loved his family and his country; he was a WWII Army Veteran. Fondly referred to as Earl, Daddy, Papa, Great Papa, and Earl the Pearl, he was kind and generous, and especially loved treating his grand- and great-grandchildren to ice cream and chocolate!
On any given morning, you would find Earl having his most important meal of the day, breakfast, with his son-in-law Jim and friends at Little Libby’s Cafe.
Earl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanna B. Lowe; beloved daughter, Robbin G. Lowe; parents, Benson and Gladys Lowe; brothers, Charles and John Lowe; and sister, Maxine Lowe Willis.
He is survived by his son, Jimmie John Lowe, and daughters, Christy Lowe Peele (Jim), and Jeanna Lowe Hanna (Mark); 8 grandchildren, Jeannie Lowe Wiarda (Bill), Brian Peele (Daniela), Tara Lowe, Heather Hanna Kindred (David), David Hanna, Andrew Peele (Tori), Kaitlin Lowe, and Emily Lowe; 13 great grandchildren; Jessica, Moses, Nicholas, Josiah, Hannah, Levi, Gannon, Edie, Caroline, MacKinnon, Ruby, Zuri, and Baela.
A graveside service celebrating Mr. Lowe’s life will be held at Aiken Memorial Gardens on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 10 am, where he will be laid to rest beside his loving wife.
