Funeral services for Mr. Lyman Bruce Puette will be held Monday, January 19, 2004 at 2 PM from the graveside in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Edward Newsome officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the graveside. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mr. Puette, 87, of Jackson, SC, husband of Mrs. Virginia Wadford Puette, died Friday, afternoon, January 16, 2004 in Augusta. Born in Fletcher, NC, a son of the late Charles E. and Carrie Victoria Belk Puette, he had been a resident of Jackson, SC, since 1963, where he was principal of Jackson High School for twenty-five years and was also a former Area Superintendent of Jackson School District. He was a member of Jackson First Baptist Church. Mr. Puette received his Master?s in Education from the University of South Carolina. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. In addition to his wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Virginia Wadford Puette, sons, Bruce Puette, Wallace, SC, John Puette, Greer, SC, Charles Puette, Grovetown, GA, and Scott Puette, Crestview, FL; daughter, Dr. Michelle Puette, D.V.M., Athens, GA; sisters, Mary Wimberly, Reidsville, NC, Rose Osteen, FL, Elizabeth Graham, Spartanburg, SC; and four grandchildren, survive. The family has requested that memorials in memory of Mr. Puette be made to United Hospice, 1226 Augusta West Pkwy, Augusta, GA 30901.
