Obituary of Christine M. McKenzie

   AIKEN, SC – Christine M. McKenzie, 96, passed away in the comfort of her home November 30, 2022.

   Christine was born in Westernport, MD on November 6, 1926 to the late Noah Beryl Wright and Beluah Michaels Wright.

   She attended Bruce High School in Westernport, MD. She worked in a garment factory for a number of years, was a crossing guard and worked at McDonald’s while her kids were young. Christine absolutely loved the Andy Griffith Show, cooking and baking- especially for other people, and made the most beautiful pies.

   Mrs. McKenzie has been a resident of Aiken for the last 3 years, she moved here to be with her daughter from Keyser, West Virginia.

   She was a member of Gospel Life Baptist Church of Keyser, WV, and Pentecostal Holiness Church of Piedmont, WV, where she was a pianist for many years.

   Christine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Charles R. McKenzie, a daughter; Karen Sue Evans, two sisters; Anna Jean Marple and Frances Van Dorn, and a brother; David Wright.

   Mrs. McKenzie is survived by her daughter Sharon Ross (Ken) of Aiken, SC; her son; David Mark DeVore (Tracy) of Baltimore, MD; a sister; Nancy Crawford (Lester) of Frostburg, MD, a brother; Noah Wright of Westernport, MD, her seven grandchildren; Christina, Larry, Sheri, Alexandra, Austin, Chloe, and Luke; seven great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

   Memorials may be made to Talatha Baptist Church, 361 Talatha Church Rd, Aiken, SC 29803, Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church, PO Box 158, Piedmont, WV, and Gospel Life Baptist Church, 651 W Piedmont St, Keyser, WV 26726.

   Services are to be announced at a later date.
