Obituary of Margaret Mae Goggans

   Aiken, SC- Margaret Mae Goggans, 97, of Aiken, SC passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Margaret was born October 16, 1924, in Newberry, SC. She was the daughter of the late Drayton H. Minick and Mallie Minick Ringer, she was also the stepdaughter to the late Henry David Ringer.

   Mrs. Goggans retired from Bell South Telephone Company after more than 30 years of service.

   After retirement, Margaret enjoyed traveling and working in her yard. She loved her flowers and had just received “Yard of the Month” in June of 2022 in Aiken Estates.

   Margaret is survived by her granddaughter, Caroline Dawn Oswald of Lexington Extended Care; two special nephews, Ramey Koon of West Columbia, SC, and Kirksey Koon (Rhonda) of Newberry, SC.

   Mrs. Goggans was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Goggans; a daughter, Judy Oswald; her sister, Emma Ruth Minick Koon; and a special longtime companion, Col. George Jackson.

   Graveside services for Margaret will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens, 15127 C R Koon Hwy, Newberry, SC 29108, with Pastor Jason Schafer officiating.

   The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234), has charge of arrangements.
