To the Murdock family, I am saddened to hear of your mother's death. I remember her well although it's been a long time. Mr. Murdock (John) was one of my first baseball coaches and he was a warm and encouraging coach. I played with Jack and others. Jack and Martha, I am saddened by this but know your mom is in a better place. Martha, I know you'd been through heartbreak and I wish you and Jack and all your family the best. Martha and Jack, We were neighbors of Betty and John for many years. They set the bar extremely high for being neighbors extraordinaire! We attended First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, as did they and know the many contributions they made there. Our son was in Betty's pre-school class at First Presbyterian and to this day cherishes the photo of their class sitting on and around one of the large, old trees on the church campus. Betty excelled in the kitchen but expected perfection. When perfection was not achieved, we recall her literally disposing of the her finished product! Prior to the pandemic I enjoyed visiting her at Benton House. Even though she could no longer call my name, she recognized my face and we had some enjoyable times together. Heaven has gained another angel and we rejoice in knowing that she has been well received there. Rest in peace, Betty. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very sad time.
