Obituary of Hugh Craig Beckwith

AIKEN, SC: Mr. Hugh C. Beckwith, beloved husband of Diane Ulm Beckwith, of Aiken, passed away February 27, 2022.

Born June 14, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Ruth Craig Beckwith.

Hugh attended McKeesport High School and graduated from Purdue University.  He proudly served his country in the Army Reserve for six years.

Mr. Beckwith was employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass for 37 years and retired in 1998.  During his tenure, he was the plant controller and administrative manager.

He served as the treasurer for The American Red Cross and worked for the United Way.  He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and basketball.  Mr. Beckwith was also known to frequent The Palmetto Golf Club well into his 80’s. 

Hugh will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years; his son, Craig Beckwith (Susan); his grandchildren, Allison, Breeland and Drew Beckwith. 

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 3:00PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Graniteville, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Hugh’s memory to The New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 526 Hitchcock Pkwy, Aiken, SC 29801 or to The Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, SC 30909.
