Obituary of William Ashton Branson

JACKSON, SC. – William Ashton”Billy” Branson, age 67, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, January 23, 2022 at Home, from an extended illness.

He was born in Germany, on March 14, 1954 and was the son of the late Mary Jean and Maj. William A. Branson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Julia Ladie Darnell.

Mr. Branson grew up in Beech Island, went to Jackson High in Jackson, SC., and Studied at Aiken Technical College! He Proudly served his Country in the United States Army as a Sgt.!   His true passion was Music and he was a Musician by profession. He was a gifted Musician and shared his love and passion of music with many from early years in High School, all through his life & career. He was a member of numerous Bands, Playing at Church’s, Concerts, Weddings & much more! He touched many lives with his devotion and love for the many talents he bestowed with his Drums, guitar and keyboard! He had an impact on all that he came into contact with. We will never forget His compassion for his Lord, his Love for his beautiful wife, his Voice & contagious smile, his talents and enthusiasm for music, life, family and friends. When there is a sunset on earth there is a SUNRISE in Heaven!  You will be so missed!

Survivors include his Beloved wife, Melissa Stikeleather Branson and Brothers, John (Cynthia) , Dell (Dee) of Clarkesville, Ga., twin brother, AL (Kathy), Les Branson (Lisa), of North Augusta, SC and sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends for a Celebration of Billy's Life, with Full Military Honors, on Monday, March 14th, 2022 (His Birthday) at Greenpond Church at 11 am with interment to follow at Jackson Cemetery.
