Obituary of Janice Auernheimer

AIKEN, SC:  Janice A. Auernheimer, 94, widow of Richard Auernheimer, Sr, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 surrounded by her family.

 

Born December 9, 1927 in Yonkers, NY, she was the only child of the late John Russell MacMurchy and Mary B. Dawson MacMurchy.

 

Janice began her nursing career in 1947 after recieving her RN and retired after 46 faithful and dedicated years of service. She and her husband moved to Aiken in 1994 where she enjoyed retirement.  Janice was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family, friends, and pets.    

 

Janice was an active member of South Aiken Presbyterian, where she served as a Deacon and was involved in many church activities.  She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pennsylvania, where she was a past Worthy Matron.

 

Anyone who knew Janice loved her zest for life and resilience which was evident in all that she did.  Even in illness she made others smile.  

 

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband of 58 years; and her beloved granddaughter, Dawn M. Hildebrand (Devin).

 

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Richard Auernheimer, Jr (Janet), PA, Linda A. Whisted (Hugh), OK, Randi Rose (David), PA, and Sue Kelly (John), Aiken; her grandchildren, Richard Auernheimer, III (Jeanette), Daniel Auernheimer (Renee), Ryan Whisted, Nicki Lauletta (Richard), Kathleen Jannone (Alfonso), Robin Smith (Sean) and Tracy Kelly-Fields (Ian);  and 18 great-grandchildren.

 

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00AM at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jason Hammersley officiating.

 

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Anchor Health & Rehab and Regency Hospice for their care and compassion.
