A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Sofia B. Hauser will be celebrated by Fr. Jim LeBlanc on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. The family will receive friends, after the Mass at Smith Hall. She will be interred with her husband, Alcide Robert Hauser, who died in 2000, at the Panama Canal. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is assisting the family. Mrs. Hauser, 91, of Aiken, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at her residence. Sofia, daughter of the late Sebastian Bucello and Sofia Salemi Bucello, was born in Sicily, December 7, 1917. In 1926, the Bucello family move to the Republic of Panama, where, at the age of 19, she eloped with Alcide on April 1, 1936. The couple lived in the Canal Zone until his retirement in 1967, and moved to Aiken. She was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She is survived by a son, Robert Hauser, Winston-Salem, NC and two daughters, Caroline Kelly, Aiken and Dorothy Hauser, Aiken. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
