Obituary of Bruce Alexander Jones

Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bruce Alexander Jones, 68, loving husband of Patricia Cukor Jones for 40 years, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA, following a brief illness.

Born in Yonkers, NY, on September 12, 1952, Bruce was the son of the late Samuel T. and Elizabeth H. Jones. He earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and was a licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina and Georgia. He worked primarily in construction management, for Draper & Associates and Cushman & Wakefield in Atlanta. He loved guitars, fishing and cars — the older the better. He spent hours in the garage restoring classic cars, and he was a member of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America and the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. He was also a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League, an interest he shared with his father. And like his father, he could fix anything. A longtime resident of Atlanta, Bruce relocated with Pat to Aiken, SC, when he retired five years ago.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Leslie Jones, and her husband, Robert Cusumano; his nieces, Katherine, Kristen and Cara Cusumano; and his great nephew, Maxwell Floody, all of New York, NY. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pam and Harold Lassers of Traverse City, MI.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Aiken. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations for a memorial bench and tree be sent to: Georgia Tech Foundation, 760 Spring St NW, Suite 400, Atlanta, GA, 30308, for the Bruce A. Jones Commemorative Bench and Tree. The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Aiken is handling arrangements.
