Obituary of Donnie Ray Johnson

Donnie Ray Johnson, age 69, entered into rest peacefully May 25, 2021, at his home surrounded by family. 

Donnie was born August 31, 1951 in Camden, SC to the late Cleo and Mary Kathleen Smith Johnson. He was a resident of Aiken for the past thirty-six years. He retired from SRS / Westinghouse as an Operator after twenty-seven years of service and additionally retired from H & H Services after ten years of service. Donnie enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, working in the yard, and building things. His biggest passion was for his three grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jody Johnson; a brother, Wayne Johnson; and a sister, Linda Compton. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Kathy Miles Johnson; a daughter, Christy Johnson Allen (David Jr.), Beech Island, SC; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Zachary, and Evelyn Allen; a sister, Joyce Johnson (Gerald), Sumter, SC; and a very close cousin, Michael Smith. 

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at George Funeral Home. 

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at South Aiken Baptist Church, with Pastor Ben Reams officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Parkinson’s or Lewy Body Dementia Research.
