Obituary of Jerome Buddy Key

NEW ELLENTON, SC – Jerome “Buddy” Key, of Sizemore Ave., entered into rest May 11, 2021.

Buddy was born in Aiken County, SC to the late William Henderson Key and the late Lillian Key. He was a life-long resident of New Ellenton, SC. He retired after 35 ½ years of service at Owens Corning Fiberglass. Buddy was a quiet and simple man. He was a devoted customer of the Waffle House and loved his dogs, Scooter, Buster & Sofie. He was a hard worker with a sweet spirit. He raised his two boys the best he could. Buddy was a member of the Nazarene Church which he devoted much of his time.

Survivors include his two sons, William Mark Key (Ginny), North Augusta, SC and Aaron Wayne Key (Chasity), Aiken, SC; three sisters, Joy Morrison, Bath, SC, Pauline Barron, Aiken, SC, and Ida Mae Williams, Aiken, SC; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at George Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Southlawn Cemetery with Rev. Thom Harvey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to New Life Nazarene Church, 407 Jewel St NW, New Ellenton, SC 29809.
