Obituary of Jeremy Daniel Voels

GRANITEVILLE, SC: Jeremy Daniel Voels, 32, gained his wings May 6th, 2021 with his family by his side in Augusta GA.
Born April 11th, 1989, in Chesapeake VA, he was the son of Pamela Mae Melson Byrd and Lance Marvin Voels.
Jeremy served in the United States Army as an infantryman from 2009 to 2015. In 2010 while serving in Afghanistan he sustained a life changing injury from a foreign sniper. He was stabilized and transferred to Germany. This was the beginning of hundreds of surgeries, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down - Jeremy's life would be changed forever.
From 2010 to 2021 Jeremy had close to 400 surgeries. On May 6th, 2021, Jeremy’s journey ended from the combat related injuries he sustained serving our country. “BZ Charlie Mike”
Jeremy was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Voels, Nana Carol, Pop Daniel, Grandmother Kae Voels, and Grandfather Marvin Voels.
Jeremy is lovingly remembered by his mother, Pamela Mae Melson Byrd and his stepfather, Charles; his father Lance Melvin Voels; his siblings, Tyler Voels, Shi-Ann Hauck, Taylor Page; his children, Kaydon and Charleigh Voels; and his nieces Reid Voels and Taylynn Page.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11AM at George Funeral Home with Dr. Xavier Moore officiating.
Inurnment with Military Honors will be Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 1PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
