Jerry D. Roberts, 70, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken, SC. He was born in Detroit, MI and was a US Navy Veteran. Jerry was retired from Bechtel Power Corporation after a 26 year career in start-up engineering and project management. His work took him to Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Mississippi, Kansas, Arizona and Aiken, SC where he retired near his daughter and grandchildren. He was also a retired member of the IBEW. Jerry was a communicant of St. Mary's Help of Christians Church and was a member of Perpetual Adoration and Cursillo. Jerry was an avid sportsman who throughout his life enjoyed boating, diving, weightlifting, archery, riflery and motorcycling. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was happiest spending time with his family at his home "in the woods". He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elaine of Aiken SC; his mother, Leota Bemiss of Zephyrhills FL; brother, Charles Roberts (Maxine) of Punta Gorda, Fl; daughter, Carrie Roberts (Brian) of Evans GA; and grandchildren, Brendan and Casey. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Renaldo Roberts; and brothers, Eugene and Richard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, May 11, 2013 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 2929 E. Paulding Rd, Fort Wayne, IN with calling one hour prior. Fr. Daniel Durkin will officiate. There will also be calling on Friday evening from 6-8pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Ft. Wayne, IN. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, IN. A memorial Mass will also be held in Aiken, SC on May 30, 2013 at 10 AM, St. Mary's Help of Christians Church, 203 Park Ave., SE, Aiken, SC.
