Obituary of Agnes "Skip" Nash McGinty
Agnes Nash McGinty, loving knowing as “Skip” & beloved wife of Bernard “Barney” McGinty, 88, a resident of Cumberland Villages, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 following an illness.
Born in Amelia County, VA on July 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Henry & Violet Judith Farley Nash. Mrs. McGinty was a retired legal assistant and was a parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC. Skip was past President of the Duke Campus Club in Durham, NC. and past President of the Catholic Daughters of America in Durham, NC. While her health permitted, she was also active in the Aiken New Comers Club, the Aiken chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Women of Woodside, Town & Country, a docent for the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and a volunteer with the Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael Nash & Elizabeth McGinty of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Patrick Lee & Shonda McGinty of Peachtree City, GA; 5 grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth (Jon) King of Huger, SC, Kelly Hall McGinty of Charleston, SC, Sean Michael (Francesca) McGinty of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Shannon Leigh (Kyle) Arnold of Marietta, GA and Annalee Sundy McGinty of Marietta, GA.
In addition to her parents, Skip was predeceased by a sister, Lula Nash Gearheart.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fairfield Street SE, with The Very Reverend Gregory B. Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Calvary Cemetery led by Deacon Al Matousek.
For those unable to attend in person, the Mass along with the Final prayers and commendation will be livestreamed on the official George Funeral Home & Cremation Center Face Book page (Facebook.com/GFHCC) beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
A rosary service will be held Friday evening, March 26, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Historic George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234) led by Karen Henry. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00p.m.
