Obituary of William G Haug
On March 1, 2021, William G. Haug passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; his children Heidi Cappelluzzo (Mark), Matthew Pelton (Jennifer), and Samantha Riley (Rick). Bill was a loving grandfather to Taylor Pelton, Lexi Grace, and Stephen Baer, a loving Paw Paw to Dillon Robinson (Amanda) and a great friend to his little buddy Jacob Lombara. Left to celebrate his life, and much loved by him, are his sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many of the friends that consider him a second Dad. Bill is predeceased in death by his parents, Gustav Haug and Lillian Dolby, as well as his sister Frances Farrell.
Bill spent his life in service to others as a Soldier, Firefighter and EMT. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was very proud of his time in the Air Force where he specialized in airplane mechanics. He retired as Captain from Portsmouth Naval Fire Department after 30 years. He served his community by teaching EMT training and he was well respected and befriended by many of his students. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and always loved car racing. In his younger days, he could be found working on cars and had many friends in the Ipswich, MA racing community.
Bill was easy going and fun. He loved to spend time dancing with Nancy, watching cartoons with the kids, building model trains and he had a vast collection of Teddy Bears. He loved to fish, he and his wife spent many peaceful hours boating and fishing. Bill was an avid reader and had a great love for books, throughout the years he could be found reading with a cat in his lap or a dog at his feet. Bill loved animals of all kinds and always had kind words and loving hands to play with them.
Bill’s wishes were to be remembered the way he was, intelligent, funny, warm, and kind. He has requested that no services be held but that we all honor him in our own way.
