NEW ELLENTON: Richard D. Polatewicz, 82, of New Ellenton, SC, passed away January 15, 2021.
Born May 26, 1938 in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of the late Edward Polatewicz and Marie Patina Polatewicz.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he retired after more than 25 years. He went on to work in the steel mills. After retiring from the steel mills, he worked as a driver for a local ambulance service.
In his spare time, he loved to do yardwork and work in the shed. He enjoyed woodworking and painting. You might say he was even "crafty". More than anything, however, he loved being "Jaja" to his grandchildren.
His family remembers him as kind and thoughtful and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is remembered by his loving companion of more than 20 plus years, Sandra Webb; his daughter, Heather and her husband, Dennis; his sisters, Cathy and Julie; his step-children, Sally Perry and Harry Webb and his wife, Annette; his grandchildren, Joe, Sarah (John), Brian, Christopher (Nijmegan) and Daniel; and his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Adalyn, Lillianna, Oliver, Ethan and Luca.
Memorials may be made in Richard's memory to The Wounded Warrior Project or St. Paul Methodist Church, New Ellenton.
