Obituary of Richard Dean Merriman

Richard Dean Merriman, age 86, passed away Monday December 28th, 2020 at Aiken Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Richard was born November 27, 1934 in Biddeford Maine to the late Earl and Laurice Merriman. He later moved to Bangor Maine where he attended Bangor High School where he played baseball and football. Following High School Richard attended Maine Central Institute for a year in preparation for his higher education at Colby College.

Richard lived in Ridgefield, CT and retired after a long career at AT&T/Lucent Technologies and moved to Aiken, SC with his wife Betty.

He was an avid golfer and loved playing games and spending time with his family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert Merriman, Frank Merriman and sister Ruth Merriman. He is survived by his wife Betty Merriman, daughters Lisa Rutte, (husband John), JoAnne Stuart, (husband Robert), and grandchildren Lindsay Rutte, Monique Rutte, Mitchel Rutte and Rebecca Rutte.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
