Obituary of Margaret L. Winburn

AIKEN, SC – Margaret L. Winburn, age 85, entered into rest Saturday, December 26, 2020, at home.
Mrs. Winburn was born July 10, 1935 in Marlboro, SC to the late Raymond and Beulah Locklear. She was a resident of the area since 1962. Mrs. Winburn found happiness in being a foster parent to many needy children. She was instrumental in the opening of Helping Hands. Mrs. Winburn was a minority business entrepreneur as owner and operator of Supply Services since 1986. Supply Services was her second home and she loved her business and customers. She enjoyed going to the coast, fishing, gospel music, and thrift stores. She was very proud of her brother, Lowell, who was inducted into the Native American Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Winburn; two sons, Victor Winburn (Patsy) and Tony Winburn (Lunette); a grandson, Kevin Winburn; and two brothers, Lowell and JR Locklear.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Ekonomakis Winburn, Aiken, SC; two sons, Jay H. Winburn and Eddie K. Winburn, both of Aiken, SC; nine grandchildren, Leah Ekonomakis (David), Christa “Chris” Winburn Turner, Jacob Winburn (Lauren), David Lee Winburn, Brittany Winburn, “Allen” Charles Winburn, Alison Broome (Clint), and Hillary Sessions (Calvin); fifteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley, Myrtle, Annie, and Virginia; and two brothers, Earl and Curtis.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at George Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Southlawn Cemetery.
