AIKEN, SC- Eleanor Mae Rideout, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Born March 30, 1928 in Houghton, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Lundy Richards. Mrs. Rideout had made Aiken, SC her home since 1952 and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rideout was a dedicated caregiver, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She volunteered for various organizations, including Meals-on-Wheels. She was never known to complain or say a cross word about anyone. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and great-grandmother. She truly demonstrated love in action
Survivors include Sheldon Rideout, her husband of 67 years; three daughters, Sharon (John) Wagner, Dallas, TX, Jenny (Fred) Bodendorft, Greensboro, NC, and Sarah Rideout, Peachtree City, GA; two sons, Paul (Dana) Rideout and Michael Rideout, all of Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren, John (Angela) Wagner, Jr., Andrea Wagner, Melissa (Matt) Kingston, Ashley Bodendorft, Alison Rideout, Phillip (Magen) Rideout, and Jacob Rideout; and three great-grandchildren, Luke Wagner, Bennett and Hampton Rideout.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rideout was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Rideout; two brothers, Charles and Walter Richards; and a sister, Elizabeth Benney.
The family will hold a private celebration of life, with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Langley, SC.
