Obituary of Larry Glenn Adkins, Sr.

AIKEN, SC – Larry Glenn Adkins, Sr, husband of Janet Sandra Christopher Adkins, of Aiken, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Born October 7, 1939 in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ancil Ray Adkins and Maggie Lawhorn Adkins.

He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He then went on to work for Southern Pacific Transportation as a Railroad trainman. He was a very loving husband and father and loved his family more than anything.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Franklin D. Adkins.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years; his children, Vicky and Ricky Adkins, both of TX, Larry G. Adkins, Jr (Stacey) of California, Angela Ridings of Augusta, GA, Ancil Adkins of Aiken, SC, Chris Adkins (Amber Lee), and Amanda Kay Boone (Travis) of Warrenville, SC; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Dailey of Hemit, CA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 3PM at The Graniteville Community Church of God, 208 Bettis Academy Road, Graniteville, SC 29829 with Rev. Brandon Key officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the end of the service.

Memorials may be made in Larry’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
