Judy and I discovered, when we met in 2013, that our birthdays were just one day apart (plus a few years, but neither of us was counting). We dubbed ourselves “birthday buddies” and threw ourselves a party. We invited our friends (co-workers at a workamping gig in Michigan) and bought ourselves a birthday cake. One of my best birthday celebrations ever, truly...one that marked the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Judy was genuine and generous...a good and kind friend whom we loved and will miss very much.

I have many memories of Mrs. Weems from growing up. Our families went on a trip to Maysville. I also remember spending the night at the house in Portsmouth. I really enjoyed when the Weems clan visited us in Coldwater, Ohio in their RV, and Mr. and Mrs. Weems invited me to stay overnight on the RV. But my most memorable moment of Judy was when my grandmother passed when I as very young. I remember walking up for Communion, and I got a squeeze on my elbow. I turned to see who squeezed my elbow, and it was Judy. She was crying, but that human touch is one of the few memories I have from that day - it was very powerful. She always showed love, and the world could learn a lot from how she lived her life. God bless Mrs. Weems and her entire, beautiful family. -Mike McNamara
