I just came across Mrs. Davis’s obituary, and I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear of her passing. I still tell my own students stories about having her as an English teacher and more than once, I have written, “Oh, Boo” on a student’s paper the way she used to write on my papers when I made a silly mistake. I have such fond memories! Hopefully she and Mrs. Herrick are catching up on all their news!

Ron,
I am so sorry about Phyllis . I was shocked when Petie sent me word about her death. Phyllis was a wonderful lady and friend. I shall always remember the good times I shared with y'all. I still have and it is hanging in my living room a cross stitch
that Phyllis did for me - I cherish that! I appreciate her smile and her love of life that she shared with everyone she knew. Thank you both for all the memories. I shall be praying for you and know our God will get you through this difficult time. Phyllis is whole and able to look into the eyes of Jesus - She knows all the answers now.
Love,
Shirley Jones Dyer

I'm still kind of stunned. She has fought through many obstacles with a smile on her face. It'll be a while before it seems real to me. Phyllis has always been a good friend to me. I saw her once a week for years helping at their house. My heart goes out to the family, and all of us friends who love her. I know she's in heaven with God. ❤

Mrs. Davis was the best teacher I ever had. She was so tough, but you always knew she cared about you. She was special. Used some “papers” that she had corrected at Wardlaw when I was in English 101! I knew I would get a great grade on those papers!

Mrs Davis was by far the best teacher I had. She was tough and I still remember some of the vocabulary words and her insight into literature. I am praying for her family. She was one of a kind.
