Obituary of Ronald James Jakubec

AIKEN, SC –Ronald James “Ron” Jakubec, age 77, passed away at his home surrounded by family on July 19, 2020.

Ron was born September 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Emily Jakubec. He served with honor in the US Army where he was stationed in France. He went on to become a successful business owner in the printing industry. An avid sports enthusiast, he remained loyal to the Chicago Bears and White Sox. Ron had a keen intellect and sense of humor. He was a master crossword puzzle solver, loved playing the piano, and especially cared for dogs all his life. Ron had made Aiken, SC his home for the past nine years, having previously lived in Barrington, IL. He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, and a member of the James L. Hammons Detachment #939 Marine Corps League where he volunteered for their annual Toys 4 Tots program. Ron loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Jakubec.

He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-years, Christine “Chris” Jakubec; two daughters, Laura King (Benjamin), Sacramento, CA and Kristin Crawford (David), Chicago, IL; a son, Michael Jakubec, Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebekah, Daniel, Christopher, and Annalucia; a great-granddaughter, Mara; and a niece and nephew, Cindy Battistoni (Paul) and John Jakubec (Juanita).

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in the church columbarium with military honors. The family will receive friends following the Mass in the rose garden of the church, with socially distancing encouraged.
