It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of Rod. He was truly an incredible man. Handsome, educated, successful and all combined with a passion for life, care for those less fortunate and willingness to teach and guide as a mentor. One of his favorite sayings to me was, “I want you to know Furman Selz is not a loaf of bread!!” And during the eleven years I worked for him, I learned a great deal more. We did not have occasion to remain in contact after I left the firm, but he and I always were and always will be friends. Rod would do anything for a friend, as he proved over and over again in helping out those who turned to him.
I send deepest condolences to Robin and Pamela and the grandchildren whom I know he loved with a passion and it was a joy for me to watch him enjoy those precious children. Rodney was one of a kind and I recall telling him when the family lost their dear Rosamond, “Rod...you know, there is only one great sin that one can commit in life.” And he responded, “Really? And what is that?” I responded, “The sin of being boring!” See you in heaven dear friend...perhaps we’ll play a round of golf?? I know you and my Chet already are!! Blessings to all the family.
