NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – William “Bill” Joseph Morrisseau Jr., age 87, died Sunday, April 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by loving family.

Bill was born August 20, 1932 in Burlington, Vermont to the late William Joseph Morrisseau Sr. and the late Marguerite Germain Morrisseau. He trained as an aviation mechanic in Oakland, CA, paying his way working nights at the Billion Bubble Baby laundry and earning his keep as a dishwasher in a boarding house. He became a licensed private pilot and A&P mechanic. He enjoyed flying Cessna and other small craft along the California coast, often bartering mechanic services for flight hours. He later traveled the Western States as a linotype serviceman, raising Cain with his closest friend, Richard “Dick” Cook. He took up street stock car racing in the ‘70s, earning the nickname “Wild Bill” while driving a Pontiac GTO named Penelope, better known as #223. He met his beautiful wife Nicki, who happened to be chosen to present the trophy for a main event, which he won handily! Most of his career was spent as an auto body technician and Bill parlayed these skills into a career as an independent insurance appraiser. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, expert cabinetmaker as well as a skilled metalworker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John “Jack” Oswald Morrisseau.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nicolette AmbrosiMorrisseau of North Augusta, SC; a son, William Joseph Morrisseau III (Y. Caroline), of North Augusta, SC; and a daughter, Michelle Buescher (James) of Maine.

There will be no formal services. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
