I only recently learned of Bob's passing and wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife and family. Bob was my teacher at CCSU. When I became a PE teacher and would run into Bob at a conference or sporting activity, he would always have a warm smile and a kind word for me. I like to think that Bob was one reason that I was able to enjoy a successful career as a PE teacher now retired.

Dear Warrie, Stacey & Steve
Bob Trichka was, by far, my favorite 'Boss' at CCSU. Not knowing of his 'Cancer', I was quite surprised to hear of his passing. He was always fair, upbeat, and professional in his dealings with colleages and students alike. My thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences go to ALL of you. I'll miss him.

I have so many great memories of CCSU and Coach Trichka. He was an inspiration to the energetic freshman football players in 1967. He served me well as a memtor and friend while earning my PE degree at Central. I will always remember his great smile and friendship. I was happy to hear that he turned to golf and how happy he must have been to get a hole in one. I sincerely thank him for his guidance in my career path as a high school and college teacher/coach. He will be remembered as one of the leading contributors to the rise of athletics in the history of CCSU. Please know he is in my thoughts and prayers.

Bob was a true legend in physical education. He was well known in what is now called the Sport and Recreation Law Association. When one young presenter got flustered during a presentation, he encouraged her to start over again from the beginning. He had compassion for his fellow colleagues. He will be missed!
My prayers are with the family.

I am so sad to hear of Dr. Trichka's passing. I was blessed to have Bob as a teacher, mentor and friend while at CCSU and during my professional growth through CTAHPERD. Dr. Trichka always modeled compassion, energy, fairness, professionalism and FUN. I often speak of him with my students when I teach about demonstrating your best skills and letting others share the ones you aren't as good at. I will remember him in my prayers.

Mrs. Trichka Steve & Stacey,
I’m sad to learn of Coach’s passing. He lived the Scout Law and Motto. He was a surrogate father to me. He made me feel welcome at scouting events with Steve. I had fun catching balls or camping in the yard. He didn’t scold me when I put the football through the back window or shouted for Steve to come out at 8 am on at Saturday am, he’d say “Rick it is 8 am, come back in hour”. Summer camp was great. No one wanted to be an “Okefenokee” the last ones out of swim class. He coached Stacey and I on flips off the high dive – body splats made us give up on it. In Castine, ME he encouraged me to race S & S into the water – I won & came out of my skin hitting the freezing water. In college, he supported my interest in football & kept a close eye on me. Coach guided generations, demonstrated loyalty, dedication & commitment to family, friends & students. He was a leader, teacher & role model. The happy memories won’t be forgotten. Thanks Coach.

I knew Coach T. all of my 4 yrs. @ then-Central CT State College, graduated in '74. As I spent all my time in the Kaiser Gym, he was always there - cracking jokes about my last name Doolittle as well as giving me a hard time about my then-boyfriend now-husband who also majored in PE and we were always together. Coach and I used to have some great and grueling badminton grudge matches during free time - such a competitor! But, he was more like a father figure to SO many of us in that department at the time. I have all great memories of his laid-back demeanor, his gentle smile, his quick wit and his athletic expertise. I know he will be missed and I am so glad that I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him during the best 4 years of my life at Central CT. My husband and I are both Health/PE teachers and he was certainly one who made an impact on the both of us. May he rest in peace.

Dear Friend,
You will never be forgotten.
Good-night! good-night! as we so oft have said, â??Beneath this roof at midnight, in the days that are no more, and shall no more return. Thou hast but taken up thy lamp and gone to bed; I stay a little longer, as one stays to cover up the embers that still burn.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I'd like to extend my condolences to the entire Trichka family. Dr. Trichka had helped me formalize my Master's program at CCSU. I worked with him as the Faculty Athletics Representative and truly enjoyed his humor. If you'd ask him what was up - he'd say "the sky". Quick humor and I will always remember him for all his assistance to me.

To Mrs. Tricha, Stacey and Steve:
From Newington where you spent so many productive years, I extend my deepest condolences to you all. I thank Warrie and Robert Tricka for sending me their wonderful children as students some thirty years ago. Robert had a proud and productive life for which you must all be grateful. Approaching seventy myself next week if you can believe that, seventy-three seems to be young, but Robert and you all packed much into it. Please develop Wordsworth's "philosophic mind" in recalling the events and achievements of those years to establish a measure of Robert's immortality.

Warrie - I only learned of Bob's passing today. Of all the people we've met since coming to Aiken, Bob was one of the ones I enjoyed the most. His genuine warmth and sense of humor always made him a pleasure to be with. I am so glad I got to know and spend time with him these last seven years. I am very much saddened by his loss, but at least there is consolation in knowing his recent suffering is now at an end. Warrie, you're in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult period. Remember we're only a phone call away.
