Obituary of Irene Jones Gregorie

AIKEN, SC-- Irene Jones Gregorie, age 70, of Aiken died peacefully at home on April 29, 2019. She was born October 19, 1948 in Columbia, SC to the late John Sheppard Jones, Jr and the late Beatrice Baer Jones.

She was educated at Heathwood Hall and Dreher High School, both in Columbia, SC, and attended the University of South Carolina, also in Columbia, as an Art major. Her love of art, antiques, fabrics and design, as well as her love of plants and gardening, guided her in her occupations and pastimes. Upon moving to Aiken in 1976 she worked at Lambert's Art Gallery and Custom Framing, and later established Gregorie's Nursery and Garden Center with her husband. She also established The Guest Cottage Linens and, finally, was a partner in Chesterfield Design Group. But her greatest joy and passion was nurturing and caring for her family.

Surviving Irene are her husband, William Douglas Gregorie, III, her son, William Douglas Gregorie, IV (Charlotte), Lookout Mountain, TN, her grandson, William Douglas Gregorie, V, her granddaughter, Lellie Cullom Gregorie, her sister, Marie Jones O'Harra, Florence, SC, and nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at George Funeral Home on Friday, May 3 from 5pm-7pm. Services will be held Saturday May 4 at All Saints Anglican Church at 2pm. A reception will follow the service in the church parish hall.
