Obituary of Judith Ann Ferriter Davis

AIKEN, SC—Judith Ann Ferriter Davis, 75, entered into rest on December 12, 2018.

Mrs. Davis was born September 15, 1943 in Pryor, Oklahoma to the late Paul Thomas Ferriter and the late Kathryn Carney Ferriter. She received her bachelor’s degree from USC Aiken and spent her career as an educator, retiring from the Aiken County Public School System. She had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1952 and was a very active communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.  At St. Mary’s she was a lector and an eucharistic minister.  She enjoyed teaching, volunteering as a juvenile arbitrator, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hass; and a brother, Thomas Ferriter.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, David L. Davis; four sons, David Richard Davis (Lisa Lamb Davis), Aiken, SC, Jason Andrew Davis (Cheryl Lamb Davis), Aiken, SC, Adam Paul Davis (Vickie Emeneker Davis), Lexington, SC and Michael Patrick Davis (Pheobe Black Davis) Barnwell, SC; eight grandchildren, Cameron Richard Davis, Kathryn Elisabeth Davis, Emily Marie Davis, Caroline Elizabeth Davis, Collin Paul Davis, Anna Katherine Davis, Hannah Kathleen Baird and Patricia Danielle Mims; and three brothers, John Richard Ferriter (Mary Jo), David Michael Ferriter (Kathy), and Mark Joseph Ferriter (Sally).

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:15 PM Friday, December 14, 2018 at George Funeral Home with visitation following until 8:00 PM.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the new St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 138 Fairfield St., SE, Aiken, SC 29801 with The Very Rev. Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to FOTAS (Friends of the Animal Shelter) PO Box 2207 Aiken, SC 29802 in honor of her dearest Polyanna.
