ALPHARETTA, GA-- Eleanor Cullum Studley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018.  She was 83.

Eleanor lived in Aiken all her life, until the last 3 years when she moved to Alpharetta, GA to be near her oldest daughter and son.  She was the daughter of the late Julia Wilds Cullum and Norman E. Cullum and step daughter to Leonard A. Williamson after the death of her father.   Having graduated from Aiken High School in 1953, she went on to graduate from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC before she married Robert Vinson Studley in 1958.  Eleanor and Bob were active in the Aiken Community Playhouse for many years.  She sang with the chorus in the musical productions of “Oklahoma” and “Naughty Marietta.”  Together they sang in their church choir for over 50 years.

Eleanor’s other community activities included President of the Wildwood Garden Club and Life Member of the SC Garden Club, Brownie and Junior Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, volunteer teacher’s aide and tutor at Aiken Elementary School.  She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken for more than fifty years, serving faithfully in the choir, as President and Honorary Life Member of the Women of the Church, Elder, director of vacation bible school, Sunday school teacher and chairperson of the International Bazaar and SERVV Fairs. She later enjoyed performing in the Sweet Adelines (women’s barbershop) chorus group.  Her hobbies included sewing, music and gardening.

Eleanor worked several years as Nutrition Project Coordinator for the Aiken Council on Aging.  There she was recognized for her cool composure in stressful situations and for being a caring and capable supervisor.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Lucile Higgins and husband Michael of Alpharetta, GA, Robert Studley Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Perry, GA, Anne Studley of Halifax, Nova Scotia; grandchildren Ashley, Robert and Katherine Studley, James and Julia Higgins; step grandchildren Patrick and Kellie Higgins, great granddaughter Christina Studley.
