AIKEN, SC—William Lyle Mhyre, age 70, entered into rest unexpectedly Monday, October 22, 2018.
Mr. Mhyre was born March 8, 1948 in Seattle, Washington to the late Lyle Robert Mhyre and the late Florence Robertson Mhyre. He had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1988 and employed with AECOM (and its legacy companies) at the Savannah River Site (SRS) since 1988. William “Bill” Mhyre was the Civil Lab Supervisor for the General Site Testing and Inspection Services subcontract until his retirement in 2014. After retirement, Mr. Mhyre, returned part time as a Civil Consultant for System One. Bill will be missed at the Site as he leaves a legacy of vast knowledge in civil testing and development of exotic mix designs. Bill worked closely with SRS Scientist personnel on design mixes at the civil laboratory. These Grout design mixtures were utilized in the successful closure of two waste tanks and reactors. Bill was instrumental in obtaining a national lab accreditation for the laboratory in concrete and soils testing. He was a great man and loved by all.
