Obituary of Clyde D. Willing

Please share a memory of Clyde to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

AIKEN, SC-- Clyde David Willing, 83, peacefully entered into rest Thursday, October 4, 2018. Born on November 18, 1934, in Aiken, SC. Clyde was a son of the late Geddings and Ione Willing, and was one of 9 children. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy G. Willing. Clyde is survived by his children: David Willing, Lana Lybrand, and Sheila Auvenshine (Danny); six grandchildren: Shannon Taylor (Kevin), Brian Lybrand (Jennifer), Jason Willing (Jenny), Melissa Bryan (Shawn), Chad Auvenshine (Amanda), and Keila Burkhart (Dane), fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter—all whom he adored. He is also survived by three sisters: Mary Jordon, Alice Jhant, Linda Bennett, and sister-in law, Betty Willing.

Clyde was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served in many capacities—honoring God and others. Clyde served in the Army National Guard and retired from Overnight Transportation with over 39 years of service. Clyde’s greatest pride was his family. He was a wonderful example of a God-honoring husband, father, and grandfather. His family’s favorite memories are of annual camping trips at Oconee State Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at George Funeral Home in downtown Aiken. A celebration of life will be held at Memorial Baptist Church on Monday, October 8th, at 4:00 pm. The pallbearers will be his grandsons and the honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons. Interment will be at Aiken Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Historic George Funeral Home, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234), has charge of arrangements.
