Funeral services for Romie Freer Ferrell, Jr., 87, of Aiken, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Aiken. Officiating will be Pastor Tad Marshall. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, PO Box 530, Edgefield, SC 29824. Mr. Ferrell, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. Born in Spencer, W. Virginia a son of the late Romie & Hattie Harris Ferrell. He was a lifetime member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, loved hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Corky Ferrell; a brother, Royce Ferrell and sisters, Goldie Westfall, Ina Mae Post, Genevieve Ferrell and Betty Thompson. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Cora Ferrell of Aiken; a son, Doug Ferrell Jan of Aiken; daughters, Connie Ferrell and Becky Johnson, both of Aiken; a sister, Beulah Smith Chester of Spencer, W. Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Beth, Michael, Samantha and Michelle and 2 great-grandchildren, Colton and Amelia.
