Obituary of Sara Frances Posey

Miss Sara Frances Posey, 88, died Saturday, March 22 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held 11AM, Saturday, March 29 at Aiken?s First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Parlor. A brief burial service will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens, Greenville, SC at 4PM. Miss Posey was the daughter of the late John W. and Sarah T. Simpson Posey and was a native of Greenville, SC. She was a 1940 graduate of Greenville Women?s College Furman University and received her Master of Religious Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. In 1960 she moved to Aiken, SC from Rockville, MD. Over a period of 38 years she served as Minister of Education in Lenoir, NC, Shelby, NC, Forest City, NC, Rockville, MD and Aiken?s First Baptist Church from which she retired in 1980. Survivors include a niece, Anita Crook, Piedmont, SC, a nephew, Phillip Posey, West Columbia, SC, great nieces and nephews, Sue and Cal Johnson, Patricia and Bill Bryant, Carol and Greg Adams, Steven and Jeanine Posey, Brian Crook and 11 great great nieces and nephews. The family wishes that memorials be made to the Aiken?s First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.
