Obituary of Thomas Burdick Lindahl

Mr. Thomas Burdick Lindahl, 90, of Pinehurst, NC, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Carriage Hills Living Center.
Born in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late John and Ruth Butler Lindahl. He graduated from the University of Indiana with a Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration and later earned an MBA from the University of Chicago.
He spent most of his career as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II, piloting fifty-one combat missions over Europe in a B-17 The Flying Fortress. He lived in many places during his career including Washington, DC, Nagoya, Japan, and Paris, France. He was decorated with numerous metals before retiring as a Colonel with twenty nine years of service.
After he retired, he moved to Pinehurst, NC, where he made his home. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Pinehurst Country Club, the Men?s Golf Group, and he helped with PGA Golf events at the Pinehurst Country Club. He served on the Pinehurst Planning Board. He was also a member of the Daedalians and volunteered with the Air Force Retiree Association. He temporarily relocated to Aiken during 2007. He was the best Dad, and a loving husband and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Lindahl. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia James Hodgson, Aiken, sons, John Ann Lindahl, Thomas Miriam Lindahl, both of Boulder, CO, and grandchildren, Edward Lindahl, James Lindahl, Susan Lindahl, and John Eric Champ Lindahl.
Graveside services for Mr. Lindahl will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions may be directed to the Air Force Aid Society, Suite 202, 241 18th Street South, Arlington, VA 22202.
