Aiken----Mrs. Louie Arends Varnell, 86, died Friday, September 3, 3004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A memorial service will be held today, September 5, 2004 at 3PM at Cedar Creek Church with Rev. Philip Lee officiating. Born May 3, 1918 in Cordova, SC, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Ruby Smoak Arends. She served in the Army during WWII as a surgical nurse in Wilmington, DE. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cordova, SC most of her life and attended Cedar Creek Church, Aiken, SC. She was a loving mother to Annie ?Margie? V. Ball, Aiken, SC, Dorothy V. Purcell, Orangeburg, SC, Ruby V. Platt, Norway, SC, sister to, Gerrit Gladys Arends, Johnny Dolly Arends, Jimmy Evelyn Arends all of Cordova, SC, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
