Obituary of Chester William Nelson

Mr. Chester W. Nelson, 84, husband of Sandra Lee. Nelson, died Friday, March 21, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A memorial service will be held, 2PM, Wednesday, March 26, at Williston United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Summers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Burial will be held at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Mr. Nelson was the son of the late Oscar William and Susan Ann Nelson and a native of Galesburg, IL. He lived in Sun Rise, FL before moving to Williston 22 years ago. He retired form Ryder Truck Line as an administrator and coordinator. He served his country in the US Air Force, serving in S.E. Asia during WWII. He was a member of the Williston United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 75. Mr. Nelson was an avid writer. He published one book, Come Walk With Me, he also wrote an assortment of short stories that were published in magazines such as, Birds & Bloom, Grit and the Guide Post. Survivors include his wife, son and daughter in law, Dale A. and Alice Nelson, step son and daughter in law, Sean M and Jennifer Kelly, all of Aiken, sister Frances Richardson, Galesburg, IL, brother, Stanley Nelson, Wataga, IL, grandchildren, Sonesta Angela Gay, New Ellenton, Cassandra Sue Nelson, Graniteville, Nicole Lee Kelly, Aiken, Hunter J. Kelly, Coty W. Kelly both of Williston, and great grand daughter, Cassandra Angela Gay, New Ellenton. The family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Williston United Methodist Church, P. Box 401, Williston, SC 29853 or to Carolina Cancer Center, 100 Aurora Place, Aiken, SC 29801.
